Why Incorporate?

Should You Incorporate?

Incorporation isn’t right for every business, but for many professionals and growing businesses, it offers significant advantages. We help you evaluate whether it makes sense for your circumstances.

Limited Liability

A corporation is a separate legal entity. In most cases, your personal assets are protected from business debts and liabilities.

Tax Planning

Corporate structures may offer different tax-planning opportunities — including the small business deduction and income deferral strategies.

Business Growth

A corporation can more easily support hiring, expansion, outside investment and formal business relationships.

Future Planning

The right structure supports ownership changes, succession planning, and the eventual sale or transfer of your business.

Federal vs. Provincial

Which Type of Incorporation Is Right for You?

The right choice depends on where you operate, your long-term plans, and the nature of your business. We explain the differences and help you choose.

The Process

From Idea to Incorporated Business

We manage the entire incorporation process, so you can focus on what you’re building, not the paperwork.

Incorporation Questions

Common Incorporation Questions

Provincial incorporation in Ontario (through the government portal) has a government fee of around $300. Federal incorporation is typically $200. Our fees for managing the incorporation process, preparing documents, and completing the setup are quoted as part of our service — book a free consultation for exact pricing.
In most cases, the incorporation itself can be completed within a few business days once all information is gathered and documents are prepared. The complete setup — including CRA registrations, Minute Book, and corporate records — typically takes one to two weeks.
Not necessarily. An accountant can manage the incorporation process and prepare the required corporate documents. We do recommend working with a lawyer for shareholder agreements and more complex corporate structures, and we’re happy to coordinate with your legal advisor.
A Minute Book is the official record of your corporation’s key documents — including the Articles of Incorporation, shareholder resolutions, director resolutions, share register, and other corporate records. Maintaining an up-to-date Minute Book is a legal requirement for all corporations.
